Brake is the county town of the Wesermarsch and sits on the bank of the Lower Weser. Hotel 53° Nord is the base for dykes, ferries and the coast, with sauna and restaurant for the evening.
A weekend between river and sea.
Along the Weser promenade in the morning, across to Harriersand by ferry at midday, on the dyke in the afternoon, in the sauna in the evening and then at Restaurant Schöne Momente. The North Sea coast is about half an hour away by car, for a day at the sea with a return to your own bed.
The Wesermarsch is flat, wide and quiet. Cycle paths run along the dykes, big ships pass on the Weser, and Brake as a seaport town has its own history, told at the maritime museum on Breite Straße.
